Breed Info
Basset Hound
The Basset Hound, with its distinctive droopy ears and soulful expression, has a rich history that traces back to France, where these charming hounds were originally bred for hunting. Their keen sense of smell and unique appearance make them a favorite among dog enthusiasts. Basset Hounds are known for their gentle and affectionate nature, making them an excellent addition to any family. They thrive in environments where they can receive plenty of love and care, and their amiable disposition ensures they get along well with children and other pets, including dogs and even cats.
Despite their laid-back demeanor, Basset Hounds have a playful side that shines through during their daily activities. Their energy level is moderate, making them suitable for families who enjoy a leisurely lifestyle, though they still appreciate regular walks and playtime to keep them happy and healthy. With a basset in your home, you can expect a furry friend who will leisurely trot alongside you, bringing joy in the simplest moments of life. Their relatively low exercise needs are perfectly complemented by their adaptability to apartment living, provided they have space to stretch and roam.
When it comes to grooming, the Basset Hound requires only monthly upkeep to maintain those gorgeous wrinkly coats, which shed moderately throughout the year. While they do possess a curious nature and can sometimes be stubborn, their intelligence can lead to successful training sessions with patience and positive reinforcement. With a strong bond built on love and respect, your Basset Hound will surely return that affection tenfold, filling your home with warmth and laughter. If you are looking for a delightful companion in Petland Topeka, Kansas, the Basset Hound just might be the perfect match for you.
