Breed Info
Dogue de Bordeaux
The Dogue de Bordeaux, often known as the French Mastiff, has a rich history that traces back to ancient times where they were used as war dogs and protectors of livestock. This noble breed is known for its impressive strength and unique appearance, characterized by a broad head and muscular build. If you are considering bringing one of these gentle giants into your home, rest assured that they possess a warm heart and affectionate nature that makes them ideal companions for families.
These dogs are generally calm and composed, displaying a temperament that is both loyal and loving. They are particularly good with young children, often forming strong bonds and demonstrating remarkable patience. While they have a moderate energy level, they do still require regular exercise to maintain their health, making daily walks and playtime essential. Despite their size, their laid-back demeanor can adapt well to various living situations, though they thrive best in homes with ample space to move around.
When it comes to grooming, Dogue de Bordeaux dogs shed more than minimal but typically require monthly grooming to keep their coats looking their best. Their affectionate nature means they will want to spend quality time with you, and they tend to be quite trainable, responding well to positive reinforcement methods. While they may not be the most vocal breed, they will bark to alert you to anything unusual, showcasing their protective instincts while remaining a gentle presence in your home. If you are looking for a loving and devoted canine friend, the Dogue de Bordeaux could be the perfect fit for your family. Looking for a Dogue de Bordeaux in Petland Topeka, Kansas?
